A Tryst with Park Street
Team Chronicle
It’s that time of the year again when the festive wind blows and Calcuttans are all abuzz with the sense of ushering in the Christmas and New Year. This is also that time when our beloved Calcutta decks up with decorative lights, illuminating herself, just as a newlywed bride. The city of joy simply looks splendid and it is this transformation that we eagerly await for around the year. And one place in particular that brims with the yuletide spirit is none other than our good old Park Street.
Everyone seemed to be enjoying every bit of the festive cheer that engulfed the air. The seemingly jazzed up Park Street brings in the perfect picture of Christmas spirit, with the passersby often stopping by to admire the festive décor all around.
The food stalls that dots Park Street during the Park Street Festival is always a favourite destination for the crowd to visit. People are usually seen pampering their taste buds with authentic homemade food, ranging from Anglo-Indian delights to Chinese cuisines. The diverse flavours add the extra bit of a spicy aroma to the already festive air.
It’s a busy time for the Anglo Indian food stall owners in particular as the demand for their home cooked delicacies are a huge crowd puller. Many customers come from afar just to enjoy the authentic Anglo-Indian fare.
Allen Park is usually the centre of attraction with a plethora of cultural events organised during the Park Street Festival. Live bands, vintage car shows, food competitions and lots more that keeps the crowd hooked to the venue. In other words, Park Street is all set to live up to its reputation of being the entertainment hub of the city during the year end.
