Nababarsher Boithak ISHRAE Kolkata Chapter Celebrates Bengali New Year

The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) was established in 1981 in New Delhi by a group of eminent HVAC&R professionals. Over the years, ISHRAE has evolved into a leading professional society in the field, with a network of 61 chapters and sub-chapters, including six international chapters. The society now proudly represents a membership base of over 25,000 individuals, comprising both regular and student members, who are committed to advancing knowledge and innovation in HVAC&R.

In keeping with its commitment to fostering community spirit and cultural connection among its members, the ISHRAE Kolkata Chapter hosted a vibrant celebration of the Bengali New Year – Nababarsher Boithak – on April 27, 2025, at Eastern Metropolitan Club, Kolkata. The event aimed to blend traditional festivities with member engagement, creating a joyful platform for networking, cultural appreciation, and togetherness.

The evening began with a warm welcome note by the Chapter President Mr. Shyamal Barman, setting the tone for the celebrations and acknowledging the presence of members, families, and distinguished guests.

A series of delightful cultural programs followed, showcasing the rich heritage of Bengal which featured Rabindra sangeet and Bengali song performances by the members and their spouses along with recitation of Bengali poems by the members.

ISHRAE members and their families took the stage to present their talents through singing, dancing, and storytelling, adding a personal touch to the celebrations.

The evening concluded with a lavish Bengali dinner comprising of dishes such as luchi, begun bhaja, cholar daal, alur dom, polao, mutton kasha, chatni, and rasamalai.

The event wrapped up with closing remarks from the organising committee, followed by heartfelt New Year wishes exchanged among members.
